Poppy Celebration Cake
This Poppy themed christening cake was done for a naming ceremony for a little girl by the name of ‘Poppy’, hence the collection of sugar poppy flowers.
I have been a fan of naked cakes as of late and this is another naked cake covered only in buttercream.
Poppy’s mum wanted a cake that was contemporary looking so I went for bright colours, minimalist decorations and piping on the sides of the cake. The stand out feature of this cake are the brightly coloured sugar flower poppies topping the cake in honour of Poppy’s name and her special day.
All the best to little Poppy and her family!

Bumble Bee Cake
As we’re expecting a new royal baby soon babies seem to be on everyone’s mind. We were recently told that this is the first time a royal is to be thrown a Baby Shower Party!
Baby shower parties used to be a tradition owned by our cousins States side but it’s becoming ever more popular for mothers to be on this side of the pond to be thrown baby shower parties by all their excited friends and relatives. And why not, a new, little member of the family is something to celebrate.
I did this baby shower cake for a ‘Bumble Bee’ themed baby shower. I went for clean, simple lines, vintage colours and let the colour of the bees pop out due to the theme. This cake was not covered in fondant but is only covered in buttercream which I think proves that naked cakes can look just as beautiful as fondant covered cakes if done properly.

The Quintessentially English Summer Garden Wedding
I love summer and I love English, garden weddings. They are unstuffy, relaxed affairs in beautiful surroundings filled with flowers, fountains and fairy lights, pretty much what you hear about in fairy tales.
A wedding cake for a garden wedding should fit in perfectly with its surroundings. It should be bright, unfussy and incorporate the elements of it’s surroundings rather than clash with it.
Stick with colours that you find in nature and an organic look rather than something geometric. Sugar flowers are perfect for garden wedding cakes as they emulate the surroundings beautifully and elements such as butterflies or bees complement the look and provide a bit of fun.
Daffodil mini cake
When thinking about flavours for an outdoor summer wedding stick to something a bit light and refreshing such as lemon or carrot cake. Heavy, rich cakes are less desirable on a hot summer’s day. Stay away from fresh cream fillings as these may go bad in the heat and stick to buttercreams which will endure.
Our Spring Blooms Wedding Cake is the perfect example of a Summer Garden Wedding Cake. It has bright colours, is unfussy and of course incorporates the outdoors with it’s abundance of sugar flowers in pastel pinks and peaches.
